Synopsis
It is September 2036, and the United States is in the throes of upheaval caused by global warming. Much farmland has been lost due to higher temperatures; coastal flooding caused by melting glaciers has uprooted thousands of families, creating “the displaced”; environmental movements have become radicalized; and Congress feels an increased urgency to respond to global warming. Climate change has become the central issue in the Presidential election, and the President is torn between responding to climate change and taking a tough stance against environmental extremists.
In Fire in the Wind, you simultaneously become the eyes and minds of three characters. Emma Margolis is a New York University professor who studies the effects of global warming around the world. Harry Harper is an Iowa farmer whose land is made worthless by drought and higher temperatures. Michael Baines is a lawyer and member of the U. S. National Security Council, charged with the task of monitoring climate change developments.
Will these three individuals be able to come up with a plan to reverse the severe damage to the globe? Is it too late to squelch the “Fire in the Wind?” See how events unfold as Dana Stein paints a bold yet revealing picture of a world marred by climate change – a world that could very believably become our own reality.
